Preparing for violence in the workplace, school and domestic environments:

This live speaking event is essential for all citizens, schools and professional workplaces who wish to better prepare themselves for active assaults without becoming paranoid.  The instruction parallels “active shooters” (active killers) in the workplace, school and domestic environments.  We do this as an “active shooter” is a ten out of ten on the scale of probable lethality.  Preparing for a ten but never experiencing beyond a five most often yields success; however, preparing for a five while ignoring the possibility a ten may present itself will not produce satisfactory results.  In the training world it is often said, “you never rise to the occasion, you fall to your level of preparation”.

Learn to develop and maintain perspective of the problem as well as how to defend yourself without slipping into the counterproductive state of paranoia.  Discover some motivating factors which MAY lead assailants to do what they do and why certain responses will not benefit you.  Learn how you must respond if you find yourself in a position with an active assailant within your workplace, school or domestic area.  We will draw parallels with school, workplace, military and law enforcement statistics.  Discover basic lessons learned from our military and law enforcement communities and how this information can help the informed survive a lethal encounter.

Society has been blinded by active shooters (killers) such as Columbine High School, Virginia Tech., the Aurora movie massacre and the Fort Hood mass killing as well as violent attacks on citizens and societal unrest.  Do not allow yourself, workplace, school, home, family, or your children to be caught in these situations without an understanding of what to expect, and do, to greatly increase the chance of survival.  Our team and networks are passionate in preparing for these threats and has the knowledge to help you and yours!  This is why world-renowned expert Ret. Lt. Col. Dave Grossman has endorsed Dynamic Training and Consulting, LLC.  Check our calendar of events so you don’t miss the next opportunity to enhance your personal safety awareness:

100 pistol: (prerequisite to all other pistol courses)

Dynamic Training and Consulting, LLC was developed by people who truly live what they teach. All our instructors are, or have been, law enforcement officers and some are veterans of the armed forces. Our team believes in, first and foremost, the immeasurable value of developing, and then nourishing, the combat mindset; therefore, all our introductory level courses begin by providing an understanding of the following:

  1. A society blinded by denial
  2. Understanding domestic and international threats
  3. Active killer events (known to many as active shooter incidents)
  4. Statistics of violence
  5. The effects of violent visual imagery, to include video games, and the unprecedented infatuation with violence and killing among the global society
  6. The physiological and psychological effects of fear induced stress on the human body and why frightened people can’t think
  7. The spiritual and emotional concerns of combat / lethal encounters

We then build on:

  1. Dismissing denial, embracing preparation and avoiding paranoia
  2. Reducing the likelihood of becoming a victim
  3. The value of stress inoculation and the ability to manage the effects of fear
  4. The necessity of crisis rehearsal to include physical skills as well as the “when then” role playing thought process
  5. Managing your heart rate
  6. Things to expect during the encounter
  7. How to survive after the encounter
  8. Role of an armed citizen and the best witness possible
  9. Tactical considerations regarding the decision to engage or not engage
  10. What to expect during the law enforcement response
  11. Finally, vengeance and murder will destroy you

Following the above, we move to developing the necessary physical skills:

arms-training5This two day event is the first in our pistol line-up. The 100 pistol course is a prerequisite to all our pistol courses, as it sets the foundation of manipulating a pistol in a lethal situation. After getting your mind in the game, we begin to build your skills. A sample of what this course will cover includes: The purpose of the semi-auto pistol as well as firearms safety in life and during the course; posture, grip and recoil management, all of which are critical areas that must be mastered; the draw “by the numbers” to include moving off your adversaries radar, sight and target acquisition and how to place accurate hits with the hand fired weapon. Learn to manage single and multiple round hits and the theory behind the “double tap”. You will learn to recognize various malfunctions and learn how to clear and fight past them. Understand the difference and be able to complete: administrative loads, tactical reloads and speed reloads. The majority of the work for this course takes place from fifteen yards to three yards. You will participate in some exciting drills to illustrate the need to balance your own limitations of speed and accuracy. This course prepares you for our more advanced pistol courses. A certificate of completion will be awarded upon successful completion of this course. This certification will suffice Wyoming’s requirement to obtain a concealed weapons permit. If not from Wyoming, check with your state and local jurisdictions for applicable requirements.

Law Enforcement Patrol Tactics (offered individually or in combination with Officer down rescue)

Our patrol tactics course focuses on providing new skills, and enhancing existing skills, for the patrol response to a variety of incidents. This dynamic course is offered individually or in conjunction with our Officer Down and Citizen Down Rescue course. Both courses are designed to complement the other. Our Patrol Tactics course is designed for the patrol level response to situations while waiting for an enhanced response element, such as S.W.A.T. This course also focuses on techniques to handle evidence based search warrants utilizing various techniques, team-work, communication, and team movement. This course is a must for all small to average size departments which do not have full time S.W.A.T. response elements.

Patrol Tactics includes modern instruction for the following areas:

  • Executing unknown risk search warrants utilizing a slow and methodical approach. Search warrants are often viewed as routine situations but have all the ingredients for disaster if not approached with a consistent all-hazards model. Executing search warrants (for evidence) utilizing a dynamic approach (speed, surprise and violence of action) can prove hazardous for all involved and are often utilized during missions which do not require such action. We discuss how to make proper operational decisions by evaluating the priorities of life in relation to the mission objectives.
  • The patrol response to barricaded and hostage situations. Learn to develop an Emergency Action Team (E.A.T.), equipment considerations for the E.A.T., establishing rules of engagement for the E.A.T., developing immediate action and deliberate action plans, immediate action responses to triggering events and methods of insuring the situation does not change locations or become mobile.
  • Learn basic dynamic entry techniques for the immediate action element. This includes team movement, communication, distraction considerations and room domination.
  • Learn to conduct searches using cross-cover techniques and where these techniques can be effective.
  • Learn to utilize the patrol rifle effectively. This will include the proper use of various firing platforms, firing from various positions of cover and how to work as a team with the primary and secondary weapon.
  • Discover effective methods of advancing small, or large, teams across open areas (large hallways, open fields, large yards, etc.)

This course offers a wide variety of patrol response considerations and is routinely tailored to the hosting department and target audience. No one department has the same equipment, personnel or geographical elements; therefore, we encourage you to contact us to discuss this course and how we can responsibly accommodate your needs and budget.

Law Enforcement Officer down rescue (offered individually or in combination with patrol tactics)

Law enforcement officers attend a wide scope of training courses to better prepare them for a number of tasks they are expected to perform. One subject all too often overlooked is that of Officer Down and Citizen Down Rescue. Officers are provided pistols, rifles, ammunition, ballistic vests and tactical gear. The above equipment illustrates the obvious: officers are routinely involved with dangerous and hostile situations. In the modern era, not providing the above equipment would prove negligence. What about failing to provide proper training to handle these unique situations when something goes wrong?

Law enforcement must better prepare for tactical situations which dismiss the option of waiting for S.W.A.T. This is not a new concept as most agencies rehearse active shooter and immediate action drills. Unfortunately, many jurisdictions fail to adequately prepare for, or even discuss, officer down / citizen down rescue. It is not only dangerous, but negligent, to expect officers to enter harm’s way without proper equipment AND preparation. During this course, we will provide equipment recommendations as well as operational considerations to effectively execute an open air rescue. Though we will discuss the benefits of vehicle based rescues, the majority of the time will be spent learning rescue techniques where vehicles are of no option.

We will provide guidance in assembling tactical medical kits as well as recommendations for effective use. This course incorporates the use of tactical medical kits and instruction of how to employ lifesaving efforts inside and out of the hot zone.

This course involves studying failed rescue operations and why they failed. Learn to mentally prepare yourself for one of the most emotional and stressful events you will ever encounter. Through discussion, demonstration and practical exercises you will learn:

  • Mental preparation
  • Radio discipline
  • Scene assessment
  • Who is in command?
  • Methods of deploying medical equipment, ammunition, etc. to the downed officer
  • Equipment considerations
  • Developing a rescue team with immediately available resources
  • Managing areas of responsibility and how to assign tasks to available officers
  • Team movement and communication techniques
  • Tactical medical care inside and outside the hot zone
  • Various single / team drag and carry techniques
  • The application of controlled aimed fire
  • Considerations after extraction for apprehension of the suspect
  • The necessity of training and crisis rehearsal
